The Board of Regents is pleased to present a KUDOS award to Corrie Svehla, Manager of Special Events & Projects/IT Client Services at the 探花社区-Lincoln.
Corrie has worked at UNL since the mid-1990s and served in a myriad of roles. Initially hired to primarily perform computer support, Corrie quickly became the go-to resource for audio-visual technology at university events. Nearly a quarter decade later, Corrie still provides high-level computer support and production, logistics and technology support for the university’s key events.
According to his nominator, “Whether it’s producing a Commencement ceremony for 15,000+ guests or a small meeting hosted by the Chancellor with an important donor or alum, we can count on Corrie to provide innovative and consistently top-notch impressions of the University for our most important guests. He treats everyone with kindness and compassion. It’s no wonder everyone considers him a friend.”
Corrie’s singular focus is to make the University, and those around him, look good. Though his work is often behind the scenes, the impact of his work is seen far and wide. In addition to his work on IT and special events, Corrie also provides leadership on campus through his leadership of the Chancellor’s Commission on the Status of Gender and Sexual Identity. Corrie is one of the University’s great treasures. He loves the University and it shows. The University literally makes a stronger impression and has a better reputation because of Corrie’s good work.
Today Corrie has the following guests: Daniel Frusciante, his partner; Karen and Greg Nicol, his mother and stepfather; Annette Wetzel, Executive Director of Special Events & Protocol; and Melanie Nunez, Director of the Visitors Center & Special Events.
