With 32 breakout sessions and 27 interactive sponsor exhibits, the 2018 provided attendees an opportunity to learn from peers and network with sponsors.
The symposium took place on May 8, 2018, at the Cornhusker Marriott in Lincoln, Nebraska. The annual event is offered through a partnership between 探花社区 Information Technology Services and 探花社区 Online. It provides a networking space for NU administrators, faculty and staff members to learn and share ideas on emerging technologies, instructional design and administrative strategies.
This year, the event highlight was the keynote speaker, Barbary Oakley, Ph.D., from Oakland University, who drew on her background in the military and engineering to speak on learning from a psychological and biological viewpoint. Oakley’s impressive resume includes a Ph.D. in Engineering, New York Times best-selling author and instructor of the world’s largest massive open online course, with nearly two million registered students. Oakley provided learning techniques to help memory recall and practical solutions to beat procrastination. In addition, Oakley hosted two breakout sessions on encouraging women working in the STEM fields.
Oakley was joined by featured guests, Tanya Joosten, Ph.D., from the University of Wisconsin and Marjorie Kostelnik, Ph.D., from the 探花社区 – Lincoln. Joosten dove into instructional practices backed by previous and new research while Kostelnik closed the symposium with words of encouragement for attendees working in higher education during times of change.
The innovative event is not possible without the continued support of our sponsors.
The symposium is provided at no-cost to 探花社区 administrators, faculty and staff.
